The AN/GVS-5 is a lightweight, hand-held binocular-like laser range finder. It has magnification capabilities of up to 7X. With the battery in place, the system weighs approximately 5 pounds. It can determine ranges out to approximately 10,000 meters with an accuracy of + or - 10 meters.

Ghost Recon Wildlands
Although the AN/GVS-5 did not appear the Ghosts used Binoculars to do recon and the Binocular had its own vision like Night and Thermal Vision. Its spotting capabilities are low but this can be upgraded along with its zoom.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
In Breakpoint, instead of being a universal feature in the game, the binoculars act like an equip able item. They must be placed to the item wheel before use, instead of them being able to use any time like Wildlands.
