Kimberly "Fury" Hernandez is a Ghost who was deployed in Auroa as part of Operation Greenstone in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Biography[]
Background[]
Born in San Diego, California, Fury had always been labeled a tomboy. Favouring more male-dominated self-defence activities, such as boxing and jiu jitsu during her youth, she eventually became proficient in both major sports and competed at a national level when she was 16. Shortly after completing her studies in psychology, she enlisted into the United States Navy at the age of 22, where she volunteered for Navy SEAL training, eventually becoming the first woman to become a US Navy Special Warfare Operator, despite the intense pressure from the "male-centric" culture of the units she served in. As she continued serving with the Navy, she was approached by DEVGRU, who offered her a position within their ranks. Readily accepting, Hernandez continued to surpass her superior's expectations by completing DEVGRU training.
Throughout her tenure in both the SEALs and DEVGRU, Fury was noted by her superiors to suffer from issues with authority and structure. They noted that owing to her position as a woman in the military, she often had to prove her worth and deal with the bouts of sexism by her fellow operators. Further investigations noted that she had often responded to these pressures by asserting herself over her male counterparts and making sure there is no room to question her competency in hand-to-hand combat. She has often been involved in fights with her fellow unit members, in which she always end up "winning the argument".
After serving multiple tours and participating in several complicated and dangerous missions, Hernandez was offered a position in Ghost Recon at the age of 30. Readily accepting the offer, she successfully completed her training and was assigned primarily to missions where her strong capacity for adaptation in any environment and exemplary hand-to-hand combat skills have been deemed essential. Despite the increased numbers of female operators in Ghost Recon, Fury's temper did not wane, and as noted by her fellow Ghosts, she tended to be quite direct with her other operators. Despite her bluntness, Fury was especially noted to curb her forwardness when conversing with Nomad, to whom she feels a great amount of respect. Fury feels like she is always in competition with other team members and wants to prove to them that she is as good as they are, if not better.
