For The Ghosts, success often comes down to choosing the right tools for the job. Before starting each mission you're prompted to select your weapons from a wide range of Assault Rifles, Light Machine Guns, Shotguns, Submachine Guns, Sniper Rifles and Pistols. But the choices don't end with weapon selection. Using the Gunsmith interface it's possible to customize each weapon through the application of various attachments.

Modification Points


Attachments	Description
Muzzle Attachments	These effects a weapon's recoil and muzzle flash. Silencers: Silencers virtually eliminate muzzle flash, reduce recoil and greatly reduce noise. They also slightly reduce damage while increasing accuracy. Silencer users are virtually undetectable. Muzzle Brakes: Muzzle Brakes significantly reduce recoil of guns while slightly reducing muzzle flash. Flash Suppressors: Flash Suppressors significantly reduce muzzle flash while slightly reducing recoil.
Gun Barrels	Barrel lengths affect characteristics like stability, recoil, accuracy and damage. Longer barrels deal more damage and have lower recoil, but are harder to steady.
IR Laser Designator	A signaling tool that allows a Ghost to designate targets, set waypoints or otherwise alert allies to hidden enemies. It is an attachment that is critical for maintaining a well-coordinated fireteam.
Bottom Attachments	Bottom attachments are comprised of bipods and vertical grips that affect weapon stability and handling. Bipods: Bipods stabilize heavy weapons when in cover or prone. They improve accuracy, recovery and reduce recoil. They are cumbersome and reduce mobility. Vertical Foregrips: Vertical Foregrips aid in weapon control in close quarter battles, but slightly reduce accuracy. Vertical Foregrips improve accuracy recovery and reduce recoil, while greatly improving handling.
Magazines	Upgraded magazines give weapons larger magazine capacities and ammo pools.
Stocks	Stocks affect recoil and weapon ready times.
Scopes	Scopes with higher magnifications help Ghosts identify and engage targets at longer ranges. Reflex Scopes: Reflex Sights have no magnification, but aid in rapid target acquisition in close combat. Assault Scopes: Assault Scopes gave mid-low magnification, perfect for close to mid range combat. Sniper Scopes: Mid to high magnification scopes for precision long range engagements.
