The Kingslayer Team was a Ghost Recon fireteam formed in response to the bombing of the United States Embassy in Bolivia and the kidnapping of DEA Agent Ricky Sandoval in 2019. Deployed into Bolivia during the events of Operation: Kingslayer, the team was later reformed during the events of Operation: Greenstone in 2025.

History[]

Shortly after the bombing of the United States Embassy at La Paz that left two Marine guards injured and the kidnapping of DEA Agent Ricky Sandoval, the threat of the Santa Blanca drug cartel shifted from a mid-level cartel to the number 4 threat on the terrorists list overnight. In response to these attacks, the CIA, DEA and JSOC opted to deploy a Ghost Recon fireteam into Bolivia to dismantle and eliminate the cartel and its hierarchy. Dubbed Operation: Kingslayer, the squad of four Ghosts led by Major Anthony "Nomad" Perryman were deployed to Bolivia and assigned to Case Officer "Karen Bowman" for the duration of the Operation. Additionally, owing to the covert nature of the military operation, the Kingslayer Team was ordered to assist local rebel forces, specifically the Kataris 26 and allow them to take credit for the downfall of the Santa Blanca cartel.

Having arrived at Bolivia, the team immediately linked up with local rebel leader Pac Katari. Rescuing fellow Kataris 26 leader Amaru from Santa Blanca custody, the Kingslayer team began assisting rebel forces in consolidating in the various provinces. Amongst their first targets of Santa Blanca leadership was La Yuri and El Polito, the duo who had tortured Sandoval for days. Having quickly eliminated most of the Santa Blanca forces in the Itacua province, the Kingslayer team assisted Bowman in capturing the other buchons of the cartel, and successfully turned a number of them, which allowed the team to gather further intel on the location of the different heads of the cartel. Additionally, over the course of the operation, the Kingslayer team discovered that at least three buchon heads were American citizens that willingly participated in the cartel's operations. Amongst them were former US Army Ranger Carl Bookhart, chemist Marcus Jensen and pilot Boston Reed. Similarly, the team discovered that large sections of Bolivia's elite tactical police unit, La Unidad had brokered a fragile peace deal with the Santa Blanca Cartel, in exchange for keeping violence to a minimum, authorities would turn a blind eye to the drug problem. This eventually escalated with the capture of General Baro, who had agreed to eventually form a deal with the Ghosts, in exchange for the elimination of the Santa Blanca Cartel.

Having eventually captured and/or eliminated two of the four cartel heads, El Sueño began finally taking action against Kingslayer's presence. Propositioning the Kingslayer team, the Ghosts quickly reject his offer, and continued their operations in eliminating the remaining two cartel heads. Shortly after doing so, the Kingslayer team discovered that Pac Katari had killed Amaru and kidnapped Bowman. Revealing his intentions to take sole credit for the downfall of the Santa Blanca drug cartel, the angered Ghost team quickly mobilized and successfully rescued Bowman, before making a mad dash to El Sueño's mausoleum. Fighting through waves of their former allies, the team was able to infiltrate the building, where they discovered that El Sueño had brutally decapitated Pac Katari. Arriving shortly after the team, Bowman attempted to kill him before she received orders from the her superiors to instead bring him in. Having discovered that El Sueño had made a plea deal with the Department of Justice, Bowman angers quickly, then Sueño proceeds to say "It seems before you were my adversary, but now you are merely my chauffeur." As he is walking away, Bowman shoots him multiple times, killing him.

As Bowman returned to the United States, the Kingslayer team remained in Bolivia to continue their investigation in Sandoval's murder. Upon stumbling on Sandoval's corpse, the team discovered that the Santa Blanca drug cartel had been innocent all along. The bombing of the embassy had been conducted by Sandoval himself, largely in an effort to force his superiors to take action against the growing threat of the cartel. Deciding to keep the discovery to themselves, the Kingslayer team was evacuated and returned to the United States, ending Operation: Kingslayer.

Operation: Fallen Lord[]

Sometime afterwards, the Kingslayer Team was re-deployed back to Bolivia during the events of Operation: Fallen Lord. Owing to the events of Operation: Kingslayer, Bolivia fell into anarchy as Kataris 26, Santa Blanca and Unidad forces engaged in civil war. With the powerless Bolivian government tattered following the scandal, special forces and mercenaries from across South America were called into Bolivia to restore order. Amongst the major factions included the Los Extranjeros PMC, who brutally suppressed further rebellion, however the group eventually usurped the Bolivian government, and attempted to restore the defunct lucrative drug production. Additionally, the aftermath of Operation: Narco Road resulted in a major data breach of the CIA mainframe, compromising the identities of every single active agent in Bolivia. With stranded American civilians still in-country and CIA agents compromised, the Kingslayer Team was ordered to evacuate the civilians and rescue all agents from the country. Operating under their Kingslayer handler Karen Bowman, the team's helicopter was immediately beset by surface-to-air missiles installed by Los Extranjeros forces. Crash landing somewhere in the Eastern Precinct, the Kingslayer team quickly realized that they were cut off from Command. With little resources available, team leader Nomad ordered the continuation of the mission, rescuing captured CIA agent Socrates from custody. Owing to their superior training and equipment, Nomad and Socrates determined that evacuating the compromised agents would be impossible. Instead, the duo decided instead to target the commanders in an effort to cripple cocaine production and weaken the coordination between the different provinces. Additionally, Socrates suggested that the Kingslayer team assist the remnants of the Kataris 26 in rebuilding its forces much to the dismay of Nomad, still bitter over their betrayal mere months ago.

Regardless, the Kingslayer team pursued their objectives, successfully revitalizing the floundering Kataris 26 and eliminating all three provincial commanders. Having been alerted to the major disruptions occuring within the countryside, Colonel Juan Ignacio Merlo, the head of Los Extranjeros returned from the capital in an effort to take command of his depleted forces. Seizing the opportunity, the Kingslayer Team successfully infiltrated his headquarters and assassinated him.

Fractured and leaderless, Los Extranjeros quickly crumbled into infighting as it tore itself apart. In the resulting chaos, the compromised CIA agents were able to flee the country, with authorities too preoccupied attempting to resolve the increased violence. With their work done and nearly all American agents and civilians having departed from Bolivia, the Kingslayer Team alongside Socrates were able to re-establish communications with Bowman who promptly deployed a helicopter to evacuate the group. Informing the group of their actions, the revelation of Los Extranjeros crimes resulted in a major political upheaval that promptly collapsed the Bolivian government. Questioning their actions, the Kingslayer Team were finally able to leave the war-torn Bolivia. Shortly after the end of Operation: Fallen Lord, the Kingslayer Team was dissolved with each individual members reassigned to different squads.

Operation: Greenstone[]

By 2025, the Kingslayer Team was reformed as part of a platoon of 32 Ghosts that was deployed to the Auroa archipelago during the events of Operation: Greenstone. Deployed to investigate the island's sudden communication's blackout and subsequent sinking of the USS Seay, the operation was considered a major failure when the platoon was shot down by drones and the crash survivors ambushed by Wolves forces. In the chaos of the fighting, Weaver was ambushed by Wolves and subsequently executed by rogue Ghost Cole D. Walker. Holt was fortunately recovered by the Homesteaders, however the crash-landing badly crippled him, remaining in bed-rest for the duration of the operation. Operator Midas was captured shortly after the crash by Sentinel forces and inducted into Project: CLAW. During the events of Operation: Deep State, team leader Nomad alongside Fourth Echelon Splinter Cell Agent Sam Fisher recovered Midas from Project: CLAW, however his injuries, like Holt forced him to remain in Erewhon for the duration of the operation.

The only remaining active operator, team leader Nomad was able to salvage Operation: Greenstone from failure. However, with most of Kingslayer out of action or KIA, Nomad instead formed the Greenstone Team from the remnants of Ghost survivors still active around the island.

With the formation of the Greenstone Team, the Kingslayer Team was dissolved in 2025.
