The M24 weapons system is the current sniper rifle system of the U.S. Army. It is a bolt-action rifle, firing a 7.62x51mm round. It has a 6 round integral magazine, and weighs approximately 5.5 kg. The 10x power telescopic sight adds approximately 800 g more to the weight of the system. Additionally, the weapon can be outfitted with a bipod, or iron sights, depending on the intended use for the weapon.
