Ghost Recon history[]
In 2013, the presidents of Mexico, the United States, and Canada met in Mexico City to sign the North American Joint Security Agreement, which gives Mexico 50 M1 Abrams Main Battle tanks. During that time, General Carlos Ontiveros staged a Military coup and captured the Presidents Ruiz-Pena of Mexico and James Ballantine of the US, and killed the Canadian Prime Minister. They were eventually rescued by Captain Scott Mitchell and his team of Ghosts, who helped defeat the rebellion.
Shortly after, Mitchell and his team were re-deployed to Mexico to stop the rebellion which spread to the Mexican states of Chiapas, Yucatán, Veracruz and Juárez, Chihuahua and other nations of Latin America. After helping the Loyalist in routing the rebels, the Ghosts were sent to El Paso, Texas, where Mitchell had an EMP bomb detonate right on his position to stop a nuclear missile launch. During the rebellion, the HAWX squadron was assigned to patrol the border and destroy numerous rebel units and support the extraction of Mitchell's team.
The Santa Blanca Drug Cartel originates from Mexico but moved to Bolivia.
